Description
Last year I did Inuyasha and won Best Costume. (Weee!)
So how do I follow that up? *feels the pressure*
In a word, Anubis!
I'm a big Ancient Egypt fan, and Anubis is one of my favorites.
I spent the past 3 weeks building am Anubis mask based on the Anubis effigy in Tut's tomb. It wasn't easy because I had to invent my own pattern from scratch, which basically means alot of trail and error. The mask under went 5 versions. The one pictured here is number 5.
Matt (aka "The Beer Fairy") modeling the mask for me infront of the Mummy post with Brendon Fraiser. Heeh heeh.
Materials used:
Black Velvet
Metallic Gold fabric
Fusible Webbing
Beading wire
Spray glue
Plastic canvas
Taxidermy Coyote nose
and lots and lots of all purpose black thread
I think the mask turned out pretty well for my first attempt doing anything like this. I won Scarest Costume this year for The Egyptian God of Dead. Isn't that cool? I guess people thought Anpu was scary. Must be the ears, right?
I'm still not 100% with the ears (Grr! Doing the ears was hard!), but at least I got it done in time for Halloween.
Halloween is so much fun. Now I need some sleep, badly. I pulled an allnighter to get the mask done last night. Wheeow.
p.s. The rest of the Egyptian Outfit is not pictured. I recycled that outfit from a previous Egyptian costume I made. I have 2 bead collars (one gold, and one gold-blue-green), an gold linen-ish outter dress, black under dress, black tights, long black velvet gloves, black Egyptian styled wig, and gold rope for a belt.
