Wow, lots and lots of comments. Thanks everyone!
Here are a few tweaks based on some of the feedback I got:

1) More realistic eyes
2) ManBoobs-Be-Gone!
3) Highlights on scabbard
4) Top of torii is lighter with more wood grain
5) Soft cast shadow added to necklace

Oooo!!! Very, very nice. The face and hair especially are great!!

One thing, though... the texture on the sleeves seems to get a bit weird the closer to the cuffs it gets. Like it's too stretched or something. *shrug* I don't know much about CG, so I don't know how you'd be able to fix that!

Otherwise, absolutely beautiful!

amazing! Looks great! Have you ever tried a program called Maya?

This is probably exactly what Inu would look like if he were real....@.@ Excellent job.

No, I haven't used Wavefront or Maya. I'm on low budget 3D diet. ;)

I'll venture into serious model building or character creation as I get more confident and/or a bigger computer that can handle it. ;)

Thanks. :D
Good eye, yes the texture distorted on the sleeves. I made the sleeves wide at the bottom and unfortunately the texture gets stretched out all. It's one of those 3d limitations, unless one creates a custom texture that distorts inward. I can try it. But I think it will get fuzzy because their isn't enough resolution on the polygons to keep the texture as sharp as it is on the shoulders.

I wonder if other 3d programs have found a way around this glitch, something like "dynamtic seamless textures" or "dynamatic matericals"? Hmmm...
